The Process of Creating a WebsiteDemystifying the process
Demystifying the Process
We take things in steps. Details matter with websites. They can make or break your audience’s experience. Part of our job is to guide you through the process, so we make certain all of the details are in place. And we won’t move to the next stage until we’re certain that they are.
Let’s discuss you and your business. We’ll schedule a call so we can discuss your goals and what you want to achieve with your website. We’ll talk about your company’s history, competition, brand, and more. The more detailed information that you can provide, the better. I’ll ask you a lot of questions, but mostly I’ll listen to your story. After our initial consultation, you’ll complete a project planner so that we’ll have a common starting point. This planner will be used to work out a cost estimate and a time frame for completing your project.
You will receive a simple contract to sign and return, along with an invoice for your deposit, which is 50% of the project fee. This deposit is required to secure your spot in the production calendar and is non-refundable. Once we receive your content and deposit, we’ll start developing the flow and architecture of your new website.
The next step is to create the blueprint and map of your website. You provide the pieces. Once we have all of the elements that we will be incorporating, we can develop the flow of the site. This is the foundation of the website. We’ll work with the flow of the main elements first before concentrating on the style of the website.
Your story drives the design. Knowing what you want your core message to be will determine how you’ll say it. We’ll start to arrange your content into a cohesive and compelling story. Everything in your website will support that story.
This is the most creative point in the process and it takes time to get it right. Not only is your story essential, but how your audience is going to experience your website is at the heart of the design. We’ll create a consistent, cohesive design that is easy to navigate. Our goal is to give your audience a great experience so they spend time on your website and want to come back for more.
After you approve the design concepts, we’ll bring it to life with code. This will be done in a way that supports your project’s needs and how hands-on you would like to be with your website after it launches.
Approval, Final Payment and Launch
Once you have approved the test site, you will be invoiced for the remaining 50% of the project fee. After receiving payment, the site will be activated with the hosting company of your choice. After several rounds of testing and quality assurance, we’re ready to go live!
Launch, Evolve and Grow
After we make your site live and announce it to the world, you’ll receive instructions on how to make content updates. We’ll discuss a strategy for your website to grow and evolve.
At this time you’ll want to think about how you will handle your site maintenance and future updates. Last Wren offers a variety of customized support options to help you reach your goals.
